A Message from BRYA President David Lynn:

Dear Parents and Community,

Last fall we sent out an email about one of the BRYA’s critical needs. We had 9 football teams last season and limited practice facilities with lights. We had 7 teams practicing on 2 David Jackson baseball fields by the end of the season. To say the least, it was tight and the scheduling was challenging. Since that time, we have been looking for options to provide adequate practice space. The Greenville County Recreation District (GCRD) has provided an option but they are asking for our help. GCRD would like to convert the two baseball fields at Northside Park into football practice fields. This would potentially offer enough practice field space to eliminate the need for the BRYA to use David Jackson for football practice. The challenge is that GCRD does not have the money to convert the fields at this time. Therefore, they are asking the BRYA to help make the project possible. The facts are that the BRYA does not have the funds to pay for the project either BUT I know our community is resourceful. I’m confident that we can find a way to meet the need because if we do not convert the fields at Northside, we will suffer through the same challenges this fall for practice space. Here is GCRD’s initial plan to convert the two baseball fields to football practice fields. It does not all have to be done at one time but Phase 1 and 2 would give use tremendous improvements over this year’s situation.   Phase 1 – Install a sprinkler system on the fields. (Estimate: $5,400)

Phase 2 – Sod the infields and bare patches outfield. (Estimate: $14,000 for sod and installation) Phase 3 – remove the fences separating the fields.

 

To make this happen for next fall, we have to find the resources to either donate the materials and labor or raise the money to pay for the project. We would like to get moving on this immediately so the grass has time to set before next fall. What I would like for you to do is let us know what you can do to help. Do you know anyone that can assist with labor, materials, or finances? If you are willing to help, please contact us. I look forward to working with our community to make this happen. Important Dates:

Flag Football Registration Dates & Information:

(Register at BRYA Building)

Saturday, Jan. 14 from 9-11am

Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9-11am

Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 6:30-8pm

 The following is required for flag football registration:

1. Registration Form

2. Code of Conduct

3. AYF Waiver

4. Birth Certificate

5. $65 Registration Fee

***Physicals are NOT required to play Flag Football***

 Players will be placed in a Division based on their age on Dec. 31, 2012

The age Breakdown is:

8U (6,7,8 yr olds)

10U (9,10 yr olds)

13U (13 yr olds)

14 U (14 yr olds)

Players must be born between 1998 and 2006 to play flag football

Forms are available on this site, under our registration tab, to print or we will have some at registration. 

To print forms click the Registration tab, then select the form you need from the pull down menu. Click the form name, the form will appear & you will be able to print.

Flag Football Practices will begin in Mid-Feb. & will be at Northside Park. All games will be played on Saturdays. Games Start in March & will end on April 28th, unless there is a rescheduled game due to rain-out

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 2011, Our BRYA  players had the opportunity to attend a Exhibition Game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte (Panthers vs NY Giants). They also had the opportunity to participate in the Panthers kids Combine on the practice field before the game!!
